Description

All tuners are not created equal! We've carried a fair number of electronic tuners over the years, and we've always carefully vetted them to ensure that they actually work with a double bass - the unusual and complex overtones of our big, long-scale instruments can often confuse cheap, "lesser" tuners.

But "affordable" no longer has to mean compromise. This reasonably-priced tuner has excellent performance, as it's been optimized for use on large, acoustic stringed instruments (specifically, string bass and cello). The Eclipse chromatic clip-on tuner offers fast, accurate chromatic tuning on and off the stage. The tuner features a full color vertical display, auto power-off, and pitch calibration in a discreet, compact design. The multi-swivel action allows for the perfect viewing angle and can be mounted to the bridge (recommended*) or in front of or behind the headstock on right- and left-handed instruments.

Using this tuner is quick and easy, just clip it on and tap the power button, nice and simple. It even has an auto power-off funtion that saves its battery life if you forget to turn it off. And it can be adjusted for various non-"A=440" tuning options with built-in calibration.

Simple, effective, useful, and inexpensive. Those are some of my favorite things when it comes to bass accessories!

NOTE: The tuner arrives in a nice retail package, and has a protective/decorative film over the display. You must REMOVE this protective film to use the tuner!

* On solid-body electric instruments, you can usually get away with putting a clip tuner on the headstock. However, with other tuners we've tried, you usually need to clip it on the bridge, which is where the cleanest vibrations can be found. In our experience on several instruments, this one does seem to work pretty well when clipped to the pegbox (headstock) - but D'Addario does still recommend putting it on the bridge for best/quickest tuning response. I say, if it works on the pegbox and you prefer it there, roll with it!

New RECHARGEABLE model!

D'Addario has released a new version of this great tuner. If you're the type to be concerned about batteries dying at inopportune moments, this one is for you!

Features a built-in rechargeable battery, with a USB-C charge port (short charging cable included) - you can charge it with most any USB power source. A full charge provides 24+ hours of tuning.

All of the other features are the same - optimized for the low string instruments, it provides excellent tuning stability and accuracy on the upright bass.
